Chief Investment Officer,
Investment Committee Member
James Haddaway is a talented and experienced investor and operator of alternative investment funds. James joined Satori in 2011 as Satori Alpha’s Chief Investment Officer of the firm’s alternative investment fund. In this leadership role, James is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring investment opportunities on behalf of Satori’s principals and a select group of family offices, high net worth individuals, and institutions.
Prior to joining Satori, James spent five years as a partner at Corriente Advisors, an SEC registered investment advisor that advised several special situation hedge funds and Corriente Master Fund, a global macro hedge fund. While at Corriente, James held numerous leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer. After successfully serving in each of these positions, James hired, trained, and managed his successors. During James’ last three years at Corriente, he served as President of the firm.
During James’s tenure at Corriente, he was instrumental in helping the firm scale from $30 million in assets under management to well over $1.5 billion. James was integral to the launch and leadership of Subprime Credit Strategies Funds I & II, which were designed to capitalize on the dislocation in the U.S. subprime mortgage residential securities market. These funds raised approximately $107 million and returned approximately $570 million to the funds’ investors after fees.
James also played a key role in launching and leading Corriente’s European Divergence Master Fund, which was designed to profit from the deteriorating quality of certain European sovereign debt. Once again, Corriente was able to create outsized returns during a time in which most market participants lost money.
Prior to joining Corriente, James worked as a corporate banker for both Frost Bank and Regions Financial. These experiences provided James with a foundation in corporate lending, consumer finance, and derivatives.
James is also a leader in his community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Child Studies Foundation, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and as past President of the 1883 Council at the University of Texas at Austin.
James received a BA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Shannon and their three children.
